Labragirl's one-day teacher workshop, "Media Images Shaping History," is designed for teachers who want to learn effective methodologies, techniques, and conversations to incorporate media literacy and analysis into history and social studies classes.

Are you a teacher who:

  • Struggles with knowing how to integrate media into history and social studies classes in meaningful ways?
  • Would like to add a new depth to your use of media literacy and analysis to your lessons?
  • Wants to explore the ideas of media and cultural memory in greater and more effective ways?
  • Is looking for both quick and in-depth lessons that can be implemented immediately?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, come to Labragirl Media Project's one-day intensive workshop "Media Images Shaping History".

TAKE AWAYS

You will come away from this workshop with:

  • an understanding of what media literacy is and how it can be directly and immediately implemented in your history and/or social studies classes;
  • strategies and confidence to help use all forms of moving image media (TV shows, news broadcasts, commercials, movies, Youtube videos, and more) as primary sources from the time period they were produced not the time period they portray; and
  • methodology, conversation, and lesson ideas about how to explore the way media shapes cultural memory of the past, allowing you to help students bridge the gap between the real world and the classroom; and
  • a time-saving packet of lesson plan packet to enable you to implement media literacy into your class immediately.
