Explore! The Power of Maps

The young people of America face challenges when it comes to making important civic decisions, understanding spatial concepts, and appreciating their influence as global citizens.  Launched in 1987, the National Geographic Society created Geography Awareness Week as a celebration to raise awareness of the importance of geography in the world and to excite people about geography in aspects of every day life.

There are numerous activities going on throughout Colorado in support of Geography Awareness Week. View COGA's Geography Awareness Week page for more info.  Check out the COGA Facebook page for regular updates on geography-related issues and perspectives.  And look for opportunities for teachers on the COGA blog.
